The EP-2 lock
preparation machine can be set to automatically
drill for the face bore, (2-1/8" diameter
standard), drill for the latch bore, and rout
for the rectangular latch plate. All of the
functions are set by switches on the control
panel.
For metal doors the EP-2 uses a tapered cone to
position the door in the face bore that was
machined in the Door light Cut-Out Machine
(Typically a Kval DL-NCA or DL-NCB) to machine
for the rectangular latch plate and drill for
the latch. The face bore drill is turned off.
Additionally a metal sensing switch may be added
to insure that the face drill does not operate
when a metal door is loaded in the EP-2.
For fiberglass doors the EP-2 can automatically
perform all of the functions for the lock
mortise. When machining fiberglass doors a stop
system is used in place of the locating tapered
cone that consists of two stops, one for the
lock mortise, and one for the dead bolt mortise.
The stops are adjustable to accommodate doors
that vary in height from 6'-6" to 8'-0". The
stop assembly is mounted on the in-feed end to
position doors that are being fed sill end
first.
